Metal production is essential to modern society but remains one of the most emission-intensive industrial activities. Most metals are produced from oxidic ores using carbon-based processes that are incompatible with long-term climate goals.
The Metals team develops fossil-free pathways for metal production, spanning iron, aluminum, and critical alloying elements such as manganese and chromium. By exploring alternative metallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes, Mission 0 House aims to eliminate emissions at the source of metal extraction and refining.
